Definitions
onEdu uses standard nomenclature across the application to refer to various entities that are used in the system. This section has been developed to aid new users in understanding the entities and help them quickly adapt and use onEdu for their institution.
Batch
A Batch in onEdu is a Section with a definite start and end date. For example, if there is a Section named CSE IV Sem 1 A, a Batch would represent this section for a particular academic year with dates for example, start date June 1 2020, and end date of Dec 21 2020.
A Batch is also associated with a Regulation.
Regulation
A regulation defines the set of courses that will be offered to a cohort of students of a program. For example, students starting their B.Tech CSE program in 2016 may have had a set of courses that will be different from another set of students taking the same course in 2020. A regulation offers a way to define this difference.
A subject is always defined with its corresponding regulation. When regulation changes, new subjects will be defined with new subject codes.
Scheme of Instructions
A Scheme of Instructions (or referred to in short by “scheme”) is the set of subjects offered to a batch. The default values associated with a subject can be changed on a scheme for some parameters such as internal max, external max marks and no of sessions.
A scheme also has faculty teaching the subject associated for each of the subjects on it. While faculty is optional to add a subject to a scheme, unless a faculty is added, timetable cannot be created for this subject.
